Description
In his work, Mao Wu appropriates news photographs, existing artworks, and video sequences as visual materials.
Rejecting the idea of a single pictorial style, he treats style as a form of play, intertwining art history, popular culture, and amateur aesthetics.
In his most recent series, he juxtaposes landscapes and political figures, exploring the emotional currents of contemporary society.
In Golden Beach, political leaders — seen from behind or in profile — become mere anonymous holidaymakers, stripped of all authority and power.
