Description

The works presented at WeArtXL are mainly in ink and oil paint, blending figuration and imagination. While we can sense a personal and narrative dimension in these canvases, they also question our society and human nature. The works function like freeze-frames, inviting us to introspect as much as to escape. They willingly, but with modesty, intrude on our intimacy, where our desires, fears and aspirations converse.

Biography

Mary-Lore L. (1985) obtained a Master’s degree in Painting from the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels (2014). Today, she teaches painting at the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Namur, gives lectures, participates in artistic juries, devotes herself to her personal production and organizes exhibitions. Her main medium is oil painting, but she also occasionally works in sculpture. She shows a keen interest in graphics, cut-out and construction impressions, strong chromatic or formal contrasts, as well as transparencies. Confrontations of elements from different universes, and their union, constitute the common thread of her research. Her works suggest an introspection as much as a fundamental questioning of our society and contemporary life.
