IXELLES ARTISTS' TRAIL
The Ixelles Artists’ Trail is an annual artistic and cultural rendezvous.
This event is characterized by the discovery of artists’ workshops, art galleries, as well as spaces dedicated to collective exhibitions and installations in public places.
Its main objective is to promote artistic creation, to highlight the local associative fabric, and to foster interaction between artists and the public.
The program is rich and varied, including visits to artists’ workshops, and a multitude of activities organized by our partners, such as concerts, conferences, theater, dance, performances, collective exhibitions, and a street art tour. This event represents an exceptional opportunity for both enthusiasts and the curious to immerse themselves in a dense, rich, multifaceted, and… Ixelles-centric artistic universe.

EXHIBITION / DISPLAYS
Ixelles Artists' Trail
This new Ixelles Artists’ Trail offers a series of cultural events in the University Quarter from October 12th to 15th, 2023. Over 4 days, the public will have the opportunity to discovernumerous free activities: studio visits, exhibitions, concerts, lectures, theater performances, street art tours, and a large collective exhibition in the VOLTA building. This event isorganized by the municipality of Ixelles and implemented by the non-profit organization we.art.xl.
For the 2023 edition, several partners are invited, including ULB and VUB universities, the Ixelles Museum, the Blan Foundation, the Italian Cultural Institute, Brussels Philharmonic, and many others. The goal, as stated by Ken Ndiaye, Alderman for Culture and the Museum, and Els Gossé, Alderwoman for Dutch-speaking Culture and Neighborhood Life, is both cultural and social: to support associations, venues, and visual artists by giving them greater visibility, to discover and highlight architectural heritage through various activities, to stimulate artistic creation, and to promote access to culture in general.
The Trail revolves around a large collective exhibition featuring nearly 150 professional andamateur artists, as well as a dozen associations, who occupy the 5000m² space of VOLTA, a former power plant. It’s an ideal space to encounter multifaceted artworks (paintings, sculptures, drawings, photos, performances, etc.) and engage with participants from all walks of life, whom we.art.xl has successfully brought together for this exceptional moment.
Various thematic routes are offered (studio visits, street art, multimedia) so that everyone can appreciate art in all its forms, the artistic density around the Ixelles cemetery, and the quality of cultural actors in often lesser-known places. Don’t miss THE essential event of this autumn, entirely free, for all enthusiasts of contemporary, multidisciplinary creation, and the artistic heritage that enriches our municipality’s cultural diversity!
